While the Leipzig based label is determined to blur the boundaries between jungle, footwork, juke from a DJ point of view – our international artists are each representing a refined sound identity within their cultural context. This dynamic of diversity, inclusivity and mutual influence marks the DNA of Defrostatica.

When a new artist debuts on Defrostatica we’re looking for a different vibe to any prior releases that he or she has done before. We’re interested in a long-term relationship with the artists we work with because it's more fun to be part of a shared journey. Here is some context on Defrostatica from founder & owner Robert Handrow aka DJ Booga:

After 20 years as a DJ, promoter, producer, author and blogger in the jungle/drum and bass scene in Leipzig, Germany, I founded this label in 2015. From day one, the label has been a do-it-yourself project, self-funded through side projects after my regular work. My vision is to connect local artists with international artists and showcase their musical work. My investment in this label involves building a professional network for artist support, promotion, distribution, marketing and accounting.

All matters with Defrostatica are achieved by our Team: Robert is owner and label manager, Tina is responsible for events & podcasts and Simon aka Sun People is in charge of A&R. We're determined to progress professionally as a label so we can offer better opportunities for the artists we represent regarding their potential audience, media and peer recognition.
